Welcome Parents to McFarland Middle School's Blog, we aim to keep parents up to date with the various projects and activities occurring within our school. At the moment the PTA is working on fundraising in order to offer new technological advances to your students. We urge you as parents to take an active role in your student’s education and get involved in our schools efforts.

We know that as parents you might have some misconceptions about the use of technology in the classroom.  Let us assure you that the use of technology in the classroom is meant to enhance your student’s educations. By incorporating an array of new technologies we can better prepare your students for the work force.

We would like to implement the ALEKS program into our math classes. The program is aimed on tutoring and assessing students. The initial assessment determines the topics that the student is ready to learn and allows the student to choose from interactive learning modules for these topics. Students are able to access the program from any computer allowing them to work at home also. We will use the program to better assess each student and ensure that they are meeting all standards. To learn more about the  program please visit ALEKS -- Assessment and Learning, K-12, Higher Education

We also hope to install ELMO projectors into each of our classrooms. Gone are the days of transparencies, with the ELMO we would be able to display vivid text and pictures directly from the textbook. The ELMO allows us to enhance small pictures and also to directly project from the computer. The best part for your student is that it is an interactive projector which would allow for our students to come up and interact with the images, they can solve problems and will allow them to make creative presentations. Read more about the benefits ELMO Projectors: The New Wave in Education.

We hope that this information will encourage you as parent to take an active role in our fundraising efforts. Please feel free to post any comments or concerns you may have regarding the implementation of technological advances in your students’ classroom. We hope to see you at our next PTA fundraising event!!!
